Sinister analysis

This opening scene is very threatening and strikes fear into the audience as they are watching a family being hanged, this is a very short opening and gives the audience an idea on what the film is going to show, and it helps build tension in the film because it is clear this is not the main character being hanged, the family seems to be filmed as the digetic sound is of a film recorder, so suggests that this is being watched by someone.The background suggests this is being done in some kind of garden or in a secluded area, this is normal in a horror movie as most have the characters in secluded areas away from the rest of society. The slow pace of activity in the shot would also help in building up tension as we don't know what's going to happen to them. The fact that we view this through a recording suggest that this might not be the only murder that has occured here, it also suggests that the antagonist in this film is trying to send a warning to other people. The title is very hard to spot initially but, it is very small and in a font, that suggests the film has some kind of evil behind, also because it was hidden and the antagonist is also hidden, it suggests that the antagonist strikes from the shadows, suggesting something paranormal is going on.
